The Toyota Yaris line comprises of various subcompact models traded under the Yaris label; the Toyota Belta/Platz sedans, and the Toyota Vitz hatchback. All these vehicles used the Toyota Echo label in other global markets. The Yaris/Echo was the descendent of the Toyota Tercel.
First Generation (2007-2009)
The Toyota Yaris was prefaced in 2007. Its 3-door, hatchback S model was introduced in the subsequent year, whereas the 5-door hatchback was prefaced in 2009. The earlier models did not have antilock brakes, and side curtain airbags.
Moreover, stability control comes as standard feature for 2010 models, and the manual transmission is also introduced as a standard offering this year.
Second Generation Toyota Yaris (2010-Present)
The present Toyota Yaris is produced as a 4-door sedan or a 4-door hatchback, and a 2-door hatchback. The standard features of hatchback variant are
• tilt steering wheel,
• air-conditioning,
• tachometer,
• remote trunk release, and
• height-adjustable driver seat.
All speakers are wired and a radio does not come as traditional equipment. In its 2nd generation, the Belta and Vitz traded in Canada and US as the Yaris and Yaris Hatchback respectively.
Optional package incorporates
• 60/40-split rear seats,
• CD/MP3 player,
• cruise control,
• keyless entry, and
• full range of power accessories
The Sport equipment includes exterior styling improvements such as sport seats, iPod integration, fog lights, and 15-inch wheels.
All the Toyota Yaris models are powered up by a reasonable 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce 106 horsepower, which passes equal power to all the four wheels. The engine is matched to two transmissions; a 5-speed manual transmission and an elective 4-speed automatic transmission.
2010 Toyota Taris
The present generation Toyota Yaris is produced in two body styles. They are equipped with various instruments boards, and the car is approximately 20 inches larger than the hatchback with an enhanced wheelbase. This means spacious room for back passengers in the car, whereas the hatchback can nicely compensate because of its adaptable back seat, which moves aft and fore.
Along with the aforementioned things, the new Yaris is reserved with many more additional advantages to provide comfort for accommodates and high performance to the vehicle. The engine is a bit peppy, though the off-the-line acceleration is slightly sluggish with the automatic transmission.
